Reviews "Adventureville" is so good that I, not exactly in the target demographic, couldn't stop watching it. The animation is highly creative, the actors are mesmerizing, the music is infectious, but the real genius here is in the concept. As a parent I can remember the countless hours my daughter spent watching the same videos, over and over again. Now kids (and maybe even adults with them) can watch the "same" DVD over and over, but each time it is a new and different experience, determined entirely by them! How cool is that? Where was this when I was growing up? Richard Greene As a teacher who has taught both first and fifth grade, I am very excited about Adventureville. It is a wonderfully interactive program for young children as well as students who are learning English as a second language. Not only is it entertaining, but it is truly educational! Nowadays, kids are used to sitting back and letting the television be responsible for all of their entertaining. They don't even have to think; they just sit back and effortlessly pass time. Unfortunately, these same children come to school and expect to get an education in the same way, as passive bystanders. Most passive students have a terrible time in school. They lack the ability to think critically on their own, expecting for everything to be laid out for them in black and white. If they don't learn to get involved with the learning process, they tend to struggle with academic comprehension. However, I believe that children who watch Adventureville will learn to become very active participants. They actually become an instrument in their own entertainment. The viewers are constantly interacting with the show by making decisions, predictions, inferences, and utilizing many other skills that build a vital foundation for academic success. Thank you U-Pic Entertainment, for helping to prepare students for my classroom! Danielle Centeno Seen one children's video seen them all? With Adventureville, you couldn't be more wrong! Adventureville is not your typical children's video...and within minutes of sitting down, you will see why. The key here is choice. Adventureville keeps children riveted to the screen for they are active participants in choosing how the storyline unfolds. And a child's sense of determination and control is not to be underestimated; it is essential in their development. With Adventureville, they get a healthy dose of such empowerment. They will be having such fun, they will likely not even be aware that they are learning as they go. And for children who tend to be easily distracted, those jumping on and off the couch while watching videos and those bored with the same old story, Adventureville will be a godsend. They will most likely be so excited about their own participation, that they will want to watch it over and over again, knowing it will never quite be the same story twice. In fact, the story does appear to be never ending...as, indeed, all good stories should be. Beth Freishtat, M.A. |
